Rectangular tube weight calculator (kg/m)
Enter the dimensions in mm to get the weight per metre and the total weight for any length and number of pieces, in steel, stainless steel or aluminium.
Weight per metre
8.594 kg/m
Total weight
51.6 kg
Density: 7.85 kg/dm³
Steel square and rectangular tubes use the EN 10219 corner radii, the same as our size tables.
Formula and example
Cross-section area A = 2t (h + b − 2t) (mm). Weight per metre = A × density ÷ 1000, with the density in kg/dm³.
2t (h + b − 2t)
Example: 100 × 50 × 3 mm in steel weighs 6.6 kg/m, so a 6 m length weighs 39.6 kg.
Carbon steel 7.85 kg/dm³, stainless steel (AISI 304) 7.93 kg/dm³, aluminium 2.70 kg/dm³. Delivered weights can differ from calculated ones within the mass tolerance of the product standard.
