Angle weight calculator (kg/m)

Enter the dimensions in mm to get the weight per metre and the total weight for any length and number of pieces, in steel, stainless steel or aluminium.

Weight per metre

4.584 kg/m

Total weight

27.5 kg

Density: 7.85 kg/dm³

Calculated with sharp corners; real sections with corner radii can differ by a few per cent.

See Steel Equal Angle sizes →

Formula and example

Cross-section area A = t (a + b − t) (mm). Weight per metre = A × density ÷ 1000, with the density in kg/dm³.

t (a + b − t)

Example: 50 × 50 × 5 mm in steel weighs 3.73 kg/m, so a 6 m length weighs 22.37 kg.

Carbon steel 7.85 kg/dm³, stainless steel (AISI 304) 7.93 kg/dm³, aluminium 2.70 kg/dm³. Delivered weights can differ from calculated ones within the mass tolerance of the product standard.
