ISO 898-2 property class 8 hexagon nuts to DIN 934 / ISO 4032 — quenched and tempered carbon steel, metric coarse thread, standard hex height. Class 8 is the default high-tensile nut for class 8.8 bolts and 8.8 threaded rod. Listed M3–M80.
Specify class 8 nuts throughout machinery, conveyor frames, racking, and general load-bearing steelwork that uses 8.8 fasteners. A class 5 nut under an 8.8 bolt is a common specification error. For vibrating plant use DIN 985 class 8 (nylon) or DIN 980 class 8 (all-metal) lock nuts; for pretensioned structural HV sets use DIN 6915, not this nut. Hardened washers as the joint design requires.
