ISO 898-2 property class 8 thin hexagon (jam) nuts to DIN 439 / ISO 4035. Quenched and tempered, roughly half the height of a DIN 934 nut, metric coarse thread. Listed M3–M56. Intended as a jam nut or low-profile nut on class 8.8 assemblies — not as a stand-alone full-height clamp.
Use as a jam nut against a class 8 DIN 934, or in shallow pockets on machinery where a standard nut fouls a casting or cover. Do not rely on a thin nut alone to develop the full proof load of an 8.8 bolt. Keep class matched — a class 5 jam nut on 8.8 is the weak link.
