Request a quoteMagnelis is a zinc–aluminium–magnesium (ZM) metallic coating applied to the strip in a continuous hot-dip line to EN 10346. We roll it into the same C, Z, Sigma and U sections as our galvanized range, with a choice of three strength grades.

The number after ZM is the minimum total coating mass on both faces in g/m². S450GD is the highest strength grade in our coated range, useful where a lighter section or longer span is needed.
Why specify ZM
- Coating producers report clearly better corrosion resistance than pure zinc at a similar coating mass, including at cut edges.
- Better behaviour in ammonia-rich air (livestock buildings) and chloride-laden air (coastal sites).
- Like zinc, the coating protects cut edges and punched holes sacrificially, so sections can be punched and cut to length before delivery.
ZM is often chosen for agricultural buildings, coastal sites and other aggressive environments. For enclosed buildings in normal atmospheres, galvanized Z275 is usually enough.

Every catalogue size is available in all three ZM grades. Omega and angled C sections are rolled to your dimensions. The size tables list weights and section properties.
Lengths, holes and minimum order
- Lengths: 6 m or 12 m, or cut to any length from 1 m to 25 m.
- Holes: punched in the line to your drawing.
- Minimum order: 5 t per size and material.
- Documents: EN 10204 3.1 certificates on request.

Give the grade and coating mass with the section, for example Sigma 300×80×17×2.5, S420GD+ZM310, and send it with lengths, quantities and hole positions through the quote form.
Questions
ZM310 or ZM350?
ZM350 carries more coating for longer protection in harsher conditions. The choice depends on the site corrosivity and the design life in your specification.
Can Magnelis and galvanized sections be used in the same building?
Yes. Both are zinc-based metallic coatings and are commonly combined, for example ZM purlins in a livestock area and Z275 elsewhere.
How should site cuts be treated?
Small cut edges are protected by the coating itself. Follow your specification and the coating producer’s advice for site cuts and drilled holes in very aggressive environments.
