ISO 898-2 class 8 all-metal prevailing-torque lock nuts to DIN 980 / ISO 7042. The locking feature is a deformed or slotted metal crown — no polymer insert — so the nut remains a one-piece steel component. Metric coarse, listed M6–M20. Pair with class 8.8 bolts.
Use where nylon would fail: elevated temperature, paint ovens, solvents, or specifications that forbid non-metallic inserts. All-metal lock nuts are the usual choice on engines, exhaust-adjacent brackets, and plant that sees heat cycling. They can be reused more times than a Nyloc, but prevailing torque still declines — follow the joint specification. Not a substitute for a pretensioned HV set.
