ISO 898-2 property class 10 all-metal prevailing-torque lock nuts to DIN 980 / ISO 7042. Alloy-steel deformed-crown locking — no nylon — for class 10.9 joints that see heat, solvents, or a specification that forbids polymer inserts. Metric coarse, listed M6–M20.
Specify with 10.9 bolts on compact, high-clamp assemblies that also see heat or chemicals. A class 8 metal lock nut under a 10.9 bolt is undersized. Confirm any zinc or organic coating against hydrogen-embrittlement practice for high-strength fasteners. For structural HV pretension use DIN 6915 + DIN 6916, not this nut.
