IPN Steel Beam

IPN beams are traditional European I-sections with tapered inner flange faces (14% slope) to EN 10365 (formerly DIN 1025-1), hot-rolled in structural grade S235JR. The narrow, deep proportions concentrate material in the web, giving high shear capacity in a compact width.

IPN remains common in existing-structure renovation, monorail and hoist runways (the tapered flange suits many trolley wheels), lintels, and machine bases. For new designs with bolted flange connections, parallel-flange IPE is often preferred — but where the specification calls for IPN or a trolley requires the tapered profile, this is the correct section.
