The flange replaces a DIN 125 washer in many joints and speeds assembly. Use class 8 flange nuts with 8.8 bolts; for 10.9 use class 10. On thick structural steel a separate hardened washer plus a standard hex nut may still be the specified stack. For vibration, prefer a lock nut or a serrated flange only if the specification allows it.
