ISO 898-1 class 8.8 construction hex bolts to DIN 7990. Hex head with larger across-flats than a DIN 931 of the same diameter, giving wrench access on site-assembled steelwork. Metric coarse, typically partial thread for structural grip lengths. Listed M12–M30.
The everyday bolt for buildings, halls, and steel frames when the connection is snug-tight or otherwise not a pretensioned HV joint. Pair with DIN 7989 plate washers and matching class 8 nuts as the drawing requires. Do not substitute these for DIN 6914 HV bolts — different head, different washer, different tightening procedure. For a standard hex in machinery, DIN 933/931 is the usual product.
