Carbon-steel helical split (spring) washers to DIN 127. A single-coil ring with a sheared gap, sized to metric bolt assemblies M3–M48. They are supplied because many drawings still call for this form — not because they are a universal lock.
Many current joint designs no longer treat DIN 127 as a reliable anti-loosening device: the washer can flatten under preload and then offer little residual spring. Supply them where the drawing or maintenance standard still calls for this form. For vibration-critical joints prefer a prevailing-torque lock nut (DIN 985 or DIN 980) or a specified locking method. Do not stack a spring washer as a substitute for a flat washer’s bearing area.
