ISO 898-1 class 4.8 slotted pan (cheese) head machine screws to DIN 84 / ISO 1207. A broad cylindrical head with a straight slot gives a larger bearing face than a countersunk screw and installs with a flat-blade driver. Metric coarse, listed M3–M10. Tensile 400 MPa.
Typical on electrical enclosures, covers, instruments, and light machinery where a hex or socket head is unnecessary. Class 4.8 is appropriate for these duties; use class 8.8 pan heads where the joint is more loaded. Pair with class 5 nuts or a tapped hole. For a flush head use DIN 965; for a hex socket cylinder head use DIN 912.
