ISO 898-1 class 8.8 button-head socket screws to ISO 7380. A low, rounded head with internal hex — visually clean on panels, enclosures, and furniture, with less projection than a hex or cylinder head. Listed M3–M16.
The shallow head cannot take the same tightening torque as a DIN 912 of the same class. Use button heads for covers and non-critical clamps, not as a drop-in for a highly loaded cap screw. Class 8.8 is the usual machinery grade in this form; 10.9 is listed separately where specified.
