ST52 rectangular hollow sections in S355J2H (EN 10219) give the same high-yield, −20 °C impact package as ST52 square box, with the directional stiffness of an RHS. Used for crane beams, long-span frames, and heavy machine chassis where S235 would need a larger section.
Match wall and outer size to the load case; the extra yield often lets you drop a wall thickness versus S235 at the same envelope. For furniture, conveyors, or tight-tolerance assembly, cold-rolled CR rectangular tube is the better surface and tolerance choice — it is not a structural S355 substitute.
