Commercial mild-steel wing (butterfly) nuts to DIN 315. Two integral wings allow tightening and release by hand — no spanner. Metric coarse thread, listed M4–M24. These are not ISO 898 property-class nuts.
Use on inspection covers, hoppers, jigs, laboratory fixtures, and any joint that is opened often by hand. They are the wrong fastener for structural or high-preload joints — clamp force is limited by finger torque and the ungraded material. For a wrench-tight joint that still needs occasional removal, a standard hex nut is clearer.
