Zinc-plated carbon-steel Phillips pan-head self-tapping screws to DIN 7981 / ISO 7049. A thread-forming point and spaced thread cut or form a mating thread in thin steel sheet. Diameters Ø2.9–6.3 mm are listed above. Typical hardness follows ISO 2702 for tapping screws — not ISO 898-1 4.8/8.8/10.9.
Use on HVAC, enclosures, cladding trims, and light fabrications in sheet too thin for a machine screw and nut. They need a correctly sized pilot hole (or the specified punched hole) — they do not drill their own hole. For a drill point that pierces steel in one operation, use DIN 7504K self-drilling screws. Not for structural steelwork or thick plate.
