The usual fastener for purlin-to-sheet, flashing, and light-gauge steel where a separate drill operation is unwanted. Drill capacity is limited to the thin-gauge range the point is designed for — they are not structural bolts and not for thick plate or masonry. For sheet that is already punched, a DIN 7981 tapping screw may be sufficient. Pair with sealing washers if the specification requires a weathertight head.
