Square hollow sections are cold-formed and electric-resistance welded to EN 10219, in S235JR and S275. Equal sides make this the closed section for columns, posts, gates, and frames that see load from more than one direction.
Sizes run from 20×20 mm to 500×500 mm, with walls from 1.5 mm to 18 mm depending on size. The internal weld is left in the bore unless you ask for it to be removed. Finish is uncoated, red-oxide shop primer, or hot-dip galvanized. For a higher yield at the same size, use the S355 square box.
