Rectangular hollow sections are cold-formed and ERW-welded to EN 10219, in S235JR and S275. The deeper side adds bending stiffness in one plane, for beams, lintels, trailer frames, and chassis.
Sizes run from 30×20 mm to 500×450 mm, with walls from 1.5 mm to 18 mm depending on size. The weld bead stays in the bore unless removal is agreed at order. Finish is uncoated, red-oxide shop primer, or hot-dip galvanized. Where the section must work equally about both axes, square box is the simpler choice. S355 rectangular box is the higher-yield section.
